By joining our rapidly growing Private Equity practice you will serve as a trusted partner to our clients. You’ll bring your first-hand experience, unique perspectives, and functional knowledge to deliver tailored integrated solutions that help our clients solve today's challenges and set the foundation for future success. As an Associate Director at CrossCountry Consulting you will be responsible for a mix of client delivery, leading teams and developing junior team members, and participating in business development activities.
In today’s competitive deal market, Private Equity is increasingly turning to operational enhancements as a driver for value creation in their investment portfolio. It is essential for Private Equity funds to have a portfolio support team, either internally or externally, to guide CFOs as they build a scalable accounting and finance function that supports the investment thesis. We are experienced operators, who serve as an extension of leading Private Equity sponsors to drive meaningful and sustainable operational changes across their portfolios.
    What You'll Do:
  1. Serve clients within the “Office of the CFO” at private equity portfolio companies, creating a diagnostic framework and enhancing the effectiveness of the finance function
  2. Lead the implementation of a financial management capability, including multi-year financial modeling and annual target-setting processes, translating strategic targets into annual and monthly operating/capital budgets and forecasts
  3. Prepare financial management reports, comparing current actual and year-to-date performance with prior year results, forecasts, and budgeted results, and help to identify and implement associated KPI reporting
  4. Assess the current state and build or modify analytical resources, tools, models, metrics, and methodologies to enhance decision-making support. This includes building models to calculate and assess financial covenants and operating requirements outlined in debt agreements, as well as monitoring and modeling activities related to debt agreement matters.
  5. Review and assist with all treasury activities, such as banking, investment, derivative management, debt repayment, and liquidity management, including the development of 13-week cash flow forecasts
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with portfolio company representatives and Private Equity sponsors, collaborating with CrossCountry team members to scope, clarify, and deliver excellent client service
  7. Contribute to developing and implementing firm-approved, AI-enabled solutions for clients, in accordance with company policies on data protection, intellectual property, and professional standards.
  8. Stay informed about emerging AI tools and techniques and collaborate with firm leadership to identify compliant opportunities to enhance client solutions and internal processes.
  9. Actively participate in business development opportunities and market a full range of services to prospective clients including using existing relationships to generate new opportunities
  10. Mentor team members by coaching colleagues, providing regular ongoing feedback and annual performance reviews, and helping project teams resolve multi-faceted issues
  11. What You'll Bring:
  12. 9+ years of corporate FP&A and/or consulting experience, with exposure to middle-market Private Equity owned businesses
  13. Experience addressing the unique requirements of the middle-market consulting environment including knowledge about the relationship between private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies
  14. Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with a bias towards action over perfection and switching between strategic narrative and detailed analysis
  15. Consistent success in building and developing strong client relationships
  16. Diverse industry experience that may include manufacturing, SaaS, healthcare, and business services among others
  17. Experience conversing with Controller group and accounting team, including fluent knowledge of the main elements and drivers of income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flow
  18. Strong understanding of cash flow dynamics, debt structures & covenant reporting, value creation plans and exit and diligence processes
  19. Advanced financial modeling skills paired with judgement to keep models practical and decision-focused
  20. Advanced expertise of Microsoft Excel (e.g., macros, pivot tables, etc.) and PowerPoint
  21. Knowledge of data analytics and related tools (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, SQL) a plus
