    Meet the team: 

    Founded in 1999, Dexcom, Inc. (NASDAQ: DXCM), develops and markets Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems for use in the management of diabetes and improvement of metabolic health.     This mission-critical, technical-leadership role will define and deliver on a core technology roadmap that will further Dexcom's mission and extend its category leadership.  The role will amplify the impact of her/his team through close collabration and communication across Dexcom functions, and with Dexcom's ecosystem partners.  The ideal candidate will embody exemplary systems thinking, communication skills, and have a proven record of leading category-defining innovation and execution.     

     

    Where you come in: 

    • As the Senior Director Engineering, Analytic and Modeling Algorithms, you will lead the design, development and implementation of the embedded analyte measurement, signal processing and fault detection algorithms; as well as cloud-based predictive analytic algorithms The role is responsible for improving upon Dexcom’s current Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) platform as well as driving the design, development and implementation of novel continuous sensing products expanding Dexcom’s portfolio of connected health solutions. 

    • You will be responsible for Dexcom’s embedded algorithm designs and technologies in Dexcom’s continuous biosensor products; ensuring industry leading performance in clinical accuracy and real-world use reliability. 

    • You will enable new insights and business opportunities through data and data analytics of product performance in the field and in the factory. 

    • You will gain and maintain organizational alignment around a long-term enabling technology roadmap (across all technologies for which the role is responsible), managing, and mentoring a world-class talented team of scientists and engineers on product design and development, and delivering robust product algorithm design solutions to the business and customers we serve. 

    • You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department – managing budgets and expenses, staffing to support the business need, overseeing the activities of the team, review and approvals of design and change management documentation and design control deliverables. 

    • You will present yourself as a role model for leadership behavior across the organization – communication and collaboration, being dependable and delivering results, developing talent and serving with integrity and passion, and thinking big by championing long term scenarios and strategy. 

     

    What makes you successful 

    • Proven experience in leading and managing teams focused on end-to-end lifecycle of product development from digital signal processing, algorithms engineering and architecture, design documentation and verification testing and reports, firmware implementation, and data analytics in measurement systems.   

    • Industry-leading expertise in methods of statistical estimation, joint probabilities, and modeling; methods of applied machine learning to minimize error and achieve best possible outcomes; data analytics on large and complex datasets consisting of multiple signals and dependencies. Experience with design and clinical testing of medical devices preferred 

    • Demonstrated ability to drive technology development and influence commercial product strategy. Track record of successful development and commercialization of sensing and measurement systems preferred. 

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple goals and priorities, allocation of resources and staff management, and keeping deliverables on track to meet deadlines 

    • Proficiency in leading a technical team of scientists and engineers. Ability to oversee complex projects, manage through risk, and navigate design tradeoffs and uncertainty. 

    • Creative problem solver with a drive for pushing the boundaries of bio-sensing products and applications 

    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills – passion for motivating and inspiring others 

    • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presenting technical material

    Travel Required: 

    • 15-25% (on site in San Diego for ~one week every 1-2 months) 

    Experience and Education Requirements: 

    • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline with 17+ years of industry experience.

    • 13+ years of years of successful leadership experience in relevant industry.

    Remote Workplace: Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of your assigned Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km). If you reside within commuting distance of a Dexcom site (typically 75 miles/120km) a hybrid working environment may be available. Ask about our Flex workplace option.
