As a Provider Relations Supervisor - Dental at Avesis, you will lead the day-to-day performance and development of the dental Provider Relations team while supporting key network management activities. This role serves as a bridge between Avesis and the participating dental provider network, promoting strong provider relationships, operational effectiveness, network adequacy, provider engagement, and member access to care.
This role is ideal for a proactive leader who combines people leadership, relationship management, data-informed decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration. The Supervisor helps translate provider and network insights into practical actions that improve provider experience, network effectiveness, compliance, and service to members.

In this role, you will supervise and develop the dental Provider Relations team, establish consistent operating practices, and ensure timely resolution of complex provider matters. You will also oversee aspects of network management, including monitoring provider capacity, performance, network composition, geographic access, and recurring operational trends. Working closely with Network Recruitment, Credentialing, Claims, Customer Service, Utilization Management, Clinical Management, Account Management, and other partners, you will help identify coverage gaps, support contracting and credentialing coordination, improve provider adoption of tools and processes, and implement solutions that strengthen provider engagement, member access, and overall network effectiveness.
Functional:
- Assist the Provider Relations Manager with oversight of the dental Provider Relations function, driving a positive provider experience, provider satisfaction, operational consistency, and effective network performance
- Lead, coach, and develop assigned Provider Relations staff through regular team meetings, individual check-ins, performance feedback, career development, and support for team engagement and morale.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex provider, claims, contract, credentialing, directory, and operational issues, ensuring timely research, appropriate routing, resolution, and communication.
- Hold staff accountable for departmental, quality, productivity, service, documentation, and individual performance measures, and use results to identify coaching and process-improvement opportunities.
- Oversee provider outreach, education, orientation, and engagement activities across applicable dental product lines, including in-person, virtual, telephone, and email interactions.
- Ensure providers receive training and guidance that promotes self-service and effective use of available tools for eligibility, claims submission, payment, prior authorization, directories, portals, and other administrative processes.
- Oversee the quality and timeliness of provider interaction records, outreach documentation, office visit notes, concerns, action items, and issue-resolution activities in accordance with departmental standards.
- Monitor provider capacity, performance, network adequacy, geographic access, network composition, and market conditions to identify systemic gaps and opportunities to improve member access to care.
- Partner with Network Recruitment to support provider contracting activities, recruitment priorities, network expansion, and adequacy-related initiatives based on identified network needs.
- Partner with Credentialing to support timely provider credentialing and recredentialing activities, document intake, inquiry resolution, and escalation of barriers affecting network participation.
- Analyze provider, claims, directory, access, and operational data to identify trends, recurring issues, performance concerns, and opportunities for corrective action or workflow improvement.
- Support provider adoption of portals, digital tools, electronic transactions, and standardized processes that improve administrative efficiency, directory accuracy, provider engagement, and operational effectiveness.
- Partner cross-functionally to develop and implement operational and network solutions that enhance provider experience, access to care, regulatory and contractual compliance, and overall network effectiveness.
- Identify recurring provider issues and process breakdowns, escalate risks appropriately, and lead or support corrective actions and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Attend work-related events and conferences while representing the organization and brand in a professional manner.
- Perform other duties and support special projects related to Provider Relations and network management as assigned.
Core:
- Intermediate PowerPoint skills required; ability to highlight details, provide visual structure using themes, importing Excel data, adding links, playing video files, using animation, and preparing for a live slideshow.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, databases, and systems used for provider documentation and data analysis.
- Microsoft applications and other windows-based applications to include a moderate level in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft OneNote, and databases.
- Working knowledge of dental health plan operations, provider contracts and agreements, claims, credentialing, contracting, provider directories, and network adequacy principles.
- Ability to evaluate provider performance, network adequacy, geographic access, capacity, and operational metrics and translate findings into clear priorities and action plans.
- Ability to analyze network composition and market conditions to identify recruitment, expansion, retention, and provider coverage opportunities.
- Ability to communicate data-informed network and provider insights to leadership and cross-functional partners through clear written summaries, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. (Prefer associate degree or higher); experience may substitute for education.
- 3+ years of dental provider relations, dental health plan operations, network management, or related experience in government and/or commercial lines of business.
- 1+ years of leadership experience, including direct supervision, team leadership, project leadership, process ownership, or comparable responsibility.
- A valid driver's license with proof of auto insurance and the ability to use your own vehicle.
At Avēsis, we strive to design equitable, and competitive compensation programs. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $55,790.00-$92,990.00
Zone B: $60,810.00-$101,350.00
Zone C: $65,420.00-$109,040.00

FLSA Status: Salary/Exempt
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, and commission.
