The role partners closely with the FLIGHT DECK Capability Development Leader, Learning Designers, the FLIGHT DECK SteerCo, talent management, and business leaders to ensure programs drive measurable outcomes tied to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

    Job Description

    Role & Responsibilities

    • Set the strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for role-based development programs and communities (including the Plant Leader Community and FLIGHT DECK leader-focused forums), aligned to enterprise priorities and SQDC outcomes
    • Lead a team of Program Managers and coordinators to plan, build, deploy, and sustain multi-modal programs (asynchronous, virtual, in-person, practice-based learning, coaching/mentoring)
    • Translate FLIGHT DECK expectations into role-specific capabilities and learning objectives; define proficiency ladders, practice, and assessments across key roles
    • Own the operating cadence for the Plant Leader Community and related forums; plan agendas, curate content, manage speakers/facilitators, and publish follow-ups
    • Partner with Learning Designers to create scalable, digitally enabled content, performance support, and facilitator enablement materials
    • Establish standard work for program operations: intake/prioritization, release management, calendar and capacity planning, communications, and change management
    • Run stakeholder operating mechanisms (SteerCo, plant and functional leaders, HR/talent) to align priorities, resources, risks, and outcomes
    • Define and report leading/lagging indicators (adoption, proficiency, on-the-job application, role-specific outcomes) and drive continuous improvement
    • Coordinate enterprise deployment and localization across sites/regions; ensure accessibility, quality, and consistency of the learner experience
    • Manage vendor/platform partnerships as needed (e.g., LMS/LXP, analytics, coaching partners); ensure data integrity and compliance
    • Build team capability: set objectives, coach performance, and foster a culture of customer focus and continuous improvement

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in development program management, capability-building, or related roles in complex organizations

    Desired Characteristics

    • Proven experience leading teams that design and deploy multi-modal development programs at scale (virtual and in-person)
    • Strong portfolio/program management skills: prioritization, capacity planning, roadmap ownership, risk/issue management
    • Demonstrated ability to engage senior stakeholders (plant leaders, functional leaders, HR) and influence outcomes in a matrixed environment
    • Data-driven approach with experience defining metrics, analyzing behavior change, and iterating based on impact
    • Lean manufacturing background; familiarity translating FLIGHT DECK/lean expectations into applied skills and coaching practices
    • Expertise in capability frameworks, assessment strategies, and practice-based learning
    • Experience building role-based communities (peer cohorts, communities of practice, mentoring)
    • Excellent communication and storytelling; ability to turn complex concepts into clear, actionable programs
    • Strong people leadership; develops talent, sets clear direction, and fosters an inclusive, high-performance culture
    • Operational excellence mindset; establishes standard work and improves processes to deliver reliably at scale
