    Job Description

Are you a problem-solver with a passion for helping others and developing talent? Do you thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments where you can make a measurable impact?

Join Great American Insurance Group as a Claims Supervisor within our Corporate Claims organization. This role supports the Accelerated Auto Group (AAG), a high-volume, low-severity commercial auto claims unit serving multiple internal divisions.

This is more than a supervisory role—it’s an opportunity to drive efficiency, elevate claim quality, and develop a high-performing team. In addition to leading others, this position maintains an active claims inventory and partners closely with Claims leadership to support operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.

    Core Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Oversight (approximately 50%)

    • Supervise a team within a shared service claims group, including:
    • Oversight of investigation and resolution of high-volume, low-severity commercial auto property damage claims
    • Ongoing coaching, development, and performance support
    • Training and onboarding of new team members
    • Ensure claim handling aligns with best practices and compliance requirements
    • Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for the team
    • Manage quality control efforts, including file audits and compliance reviews
    • Identify and implement process and technology improvements to enhance claim assignment, workflow, and efficiency
    • Assist with monthly reporting and billing processes
    • Research and benchmark industry best practices to support continuous improvement initiatives

    Direct Claim Handling (approximately 25%-50%)

    • Maintain an active inventory of claims across multiple jurisdictions, with volume dependent on team size
    • Investigate, evaluate, reserve, and resolve claims in accordance with best practices and compliance guidelines
    • Communicate effectively with policyholders, claimants, lienholders, agents, and vendors.
    • Operate efficiently across multiple claims handling systems and platforms to manage claim files, document activity, and ensure timely resolution.

Collaboration & Relationship Management (approximately 15%)

    • Maintain strong relationships between the divisional points of contact and the shared service team
    • Support vendor relationships and evaluate vendor performance and opportunities.
    • Promote collaboration across Corporate Claims and divisional partners.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience: 2–4 years of supervisory experience of commercial auto property damage claims.
    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
    • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of commercial auto claims processes, coverage, compliance, and best practices.
    • Scope of Job & Qualifications: Oversees daily workflow and team priorities for two or more direct reports, including performance management, coaching, and training. Operates with limited oversight, supports hiring and development decisions, and ensures adherence to policies, coverage, and regulatory requirements.
