My Financial Partner delivers high quality, fast-paced fractional Controller, AP, and GL services to 70+ network companies across the Teamshares portfolio. We're a wholly owned subsidiary of Teamshares, Inc. — a publicly traded company built to keep great small businesses thriving, one acquisition at a time.

    The Role
  1. We’re looking for a Financial Controller to join our growing team, focused on supporting a portfolio of retail companies. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll partner closely with company presidents and employee-owners to drive financial clarity, optimize operations, and support long-term strategic success.
  2. You’ll be responsible for the full accounting cycle, financial reporting, inventory oversight, and advising leadership teams—while identifying opportunities for improved systems, processes, and profitability.
  3. What You'll Do
  4. Strategic Client Partnership
  5. Serve as a trusted advisor to multiple retail business presidents, tailoring financial insights to their operational needs.
  6. Leverage your hands-on experience in retail operations to guide cost control, product margin analysis, vendor management, and inventory forecasting.
  7. Translate complex financial data into actionable recommendations that support both short- and long-term strategic decisions.
  8. Financial Operations & Oversight
  9. Lead full-cycle accounting operations including A/P, A/R, GL, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and payroll.
  10. Manage month-end and year-end closes, including reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and deferred revenue adjustments.
  11. Oversee inventory accounting and ensuring accurate valuation and minimizing shrinkage.
  12. Maintain a 13-week cash flow forecast and recommend solutions to optimize working capital.
  13. Reporting & Analysis
  14. Prepare trial balances, variance analyses, and financial reporting dashboards using OneStream or similar platforms.
  15. Collaborate with company leadership on budgets, quarterly planning, and long-term strategic initiatives.
  16. Deliver KPIs that reflect operational performance and margin trends.
  17. Process Improvement & Controls
  18. Identify and implement process improvements across accounting systems, POS integrations, and reporting workflows.
  19. Assist in developing internal controls and documenting financial procedures specific to retail environments.
  20. Streamline inventory management practices, multi-location stock, and seasonal adjustments.
  21. Who You Are
  22. A proactive, hands-on Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, small business environment.
  23. A strong communicator who can translate complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
  24. A self-starter who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and rolling up your sleeves when needed.
  25. Qualifications
  26. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  27. 5+ years of experience in a Controller or Senior Accounting role
  28. Proven experience in accounting, preferably with multi-location operations
  29. Background in small to medium-sized businesses; fractional or outsourced accounting experience a plus
  30. Tech-savvy and resourceful; comfortable in remote, fast-moving environments
  31. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, POS systems, and Excel
  32. Working knowledge of US GAAP
  33. Tools You'll Use
  34. QuickBooks Online & POS systems
  35. NetSuite ERP
  36. OneStream (for reporting and consolidations)
  37. Gusto (Payroll)
  38. Asana (Project/task management)
  39. Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel & Teams)
  40. Benefits:
  41. Competitive salary
  42. Medical, dental, and vision insurance — 100% employer-paid for employees (and dependents on most plans)
  43. Paid time off including:
  44. 15 vacation days
  45. 19 company holidays
  46. 5 sick days
  47. 1 floating holiday of your choice
  48. Ongoing development through access to Teamshares’ experts in small business accounting and finance
  49. The opportunity to support real employee ownership in America’s small businesses
  50. If you're passionate about using your accounting expertise to make a real impact—and want to work with a team that values integrity, humility, and collaboration—we’d love to hear from you.
