    Job Description

We’re seeking a Software Engineer with strong object-oriented programming experience (PHP preferred, but open to other OOP languages) and a thoughtful interest in how AI can enhance modern software development. In this role, you’ll take ownership of meaningful features and components, contribute across the full development lifecycle, and collaborate closely with senior engineers to build scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving moderately complex problems, writing high-quality code, and using AI-assisted tools to work more efficiently—while maintaining strong engineering judgment, reliability, and security standards.

    What You’ll Do

    • Design, build, and maintain small-to-medium features and services using object-oriented design principles (PHP preferred; experience in Java, C#, Python, Ruby, or similar is welcome).

    • Own technical implementation for assigned work, from design through deployment, with limited oversight.

    • Use AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar) to improve productivity, accelerate debugging, and support test creation—while validating outputs and ensuring quality.

    • Design reusable, testable components that align with existing architecture, interfaces, and coding standards.

    • Diagnose and resolve non-trivial bugs and performance issues; leverage logs, metrics, and traces to identify root causes.

    • Contribute meaningfully to automated testing efforts, including unit and integration tests, and help improve overall test coverage.

    • Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and mentoring junior engineers when appropriate.

    • Apply secure coding practices and proactively address common web and application security risks.

    • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers during sprint planning, estimation, and backlog refinement.

    • Maintain and improve technical documentation, using AI tools to assist with clarity, accuracy, and ongoing updates.

    • Stay current on emerging engineering and AI-assisted development practices and share effective techniques with the team.

    What You Bring

    Required

    • 4+ years of professional software development experience in an object-oriented language (PHP preferred).

    • Strong understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, and clean code practices.

    • Experience working in a Linux-based development environment.

    • Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS3.

    • Solid experience with relational databases and SQL/MySQL.

    • Working understanding of system architecture concepts, debugging strategies, and observability fundamentals (logs, metrics, tracing).

    • Demonstrated commitment to code quality, testing, and maintainable design.

    • Practical experience using (or strong interest in) AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, or documentation in a responsible way.

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with Docker or containerized environments.

    • Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms.

    • Experience using AI to improve engineering workflows (e.g., repeatable prompts, test generation, or faster root-cause analysis).

    Additional Information

While we've outlined some key qualities we typically seek, it's essential to remember that there might be additional unique strengths and talents you possess that would make you an exceptional match for us, even if they're not explicitly mentioned. Studies have consistently highlighted the significance of this principle, particularly for individuals from disenfranchised backgrounds, including women and other marginalized groups. These individuals often hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement, unlike their male counterparts who are more inclined to apply when they meet around 60% of the criteria.

The message we want to convey is that taking a leap of faith and applying can be incredibly rewarding. Your distinct abilities and perspectives could be exactly what we need to create a more diverse and inclusive team. So, don't hesitate—apply today and let's explore the exciting possibilities together!
