The Field Service Technician must live in or be prepared to relocate to the Northern Chicagoland area to support local Public Safety clients. Primarily focus is on Northern Illinois projects, travel of 25% or more may be required within the service area.
Responsibilities include providing technical support for specialized systems and product applications. This involves advanced troubleshooting for software-driven electronics, setting up communication infrastructure, and optimizing RF and Broadband architectures, including legacy analog and advanced digital P25 data systems.
Test, document, optimize, and maintain complex communications systems, providing weekly reports on all progress and activities.
Demonstrate deep expertise in wired communications systems like LAN and WAN, including the installation and configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, and cabling.
Manage and troubleshoot server hardware, operating systems, and software infrastructure to resolve application-level issues.
Utilize experience with logging recorders, RF interfaces, and various wireless or wired networking equipment.
Apply a unique blend of computer networking skills and knowledge of multi-site RF communication systems.
Candidates should possess at least 4+ years of relevant experience with the following systems and equipment:
Motorola Base Stations: STR, GTR, and Quantar series
Consoles: MCC7500
T1 Circuits and Channel Banks
IP Network configuration and computer networking
Preference will be given to those with experience in RF Infrastructure Technologies, specifically Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, and ASTRO Conventional/Trunked equipment.
Proficiency with various test equipment is required, including Communication System Analyzers, Ethernet Link test sets, T1 Test Sets, TIMS, and Digital RF Power Meters.
Candidates must understand Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, and MCC Console systems, along with ASTRO A7.x Digital systems and their respective installation procedures.
Ideally, the applicant will hold or be working toward a network certification such as Network+, CCNA, or NRS1.
Experience with P25, LMR, or other RF infrastructure components like radios and consoles is necessary.
Applicants should be skilled in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and the Motorola Radio Programming Software suite.
Must possess a current, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to be on-call 24/7/365
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s).
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
