What you'll do
As a Software Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative team building and delivering innovative AI, automation, and machine learning solutions that solve complex business challenges. You’ll serve as both a hands-on technical contributor and trusted advisor, partnering directly with collaborators to understand their needs, translate them into scalable technical solutions, and bring those solutions from concept through production.
You’ll own the full lifecycle of automation and AI products, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, deployment, adoption, and ongoing production support. Along the way, you’ll provide visibility into project progress, solution performance, adoption metrics, and key performance indicators.
Success in this role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with modern AI platforms and agent-based architectures, and the ability to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions using mature DevOps and MLOps practices.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer who enjoys turning complex problems into practical, high-impact solutions. You bring a strong combination of process automation and machine learning experience, along with a customer-focused mindset and the ability to work closely with collaborators across the organization.

The day-to-day
You’ll play a key role in transforming how we work by designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting automation solutions and AI-powered tools that improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and drive meaningful business outcomes.
Working closely with collaborator teams, you’ll uncover business challenges, translate complex requirements into practical technical solutions, and build scalable automations and intelligent systems that create measurable impact. From initial concept through production and ongoing optimization, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of solutions and help shape how automation and AI are applied across the organization.
What you'll need
Technical Skills
Candidates should have 8+ years of experience, demonstrating a solid understanding and practical fluency in the following technologies and subject areas:
- Model Context Protocol (MCP)
- Agent-to-Agent (A2A) Protocols and agent orchestration concepts
- Google Cloud Vertex AI and/or AWS Bedrock
- MLOps experience or knowledge and AIOps practices
- CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation
- Python software development
- GitHub source control, teamwork, and workflow management
- API integration and connected system architectures
- Cloud-native application development and deployment
Professional Skills
- Ability to convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working directly with multi-functional collaborators and business partners.
- Ability to lead multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven track record to drive projects from concept through production release and ongoing support.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent relevant professional experience.
This is a government role; US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance are required.
What will help you on the job
A successful engineer will keep up with the latest emerging AI technologies, agent-based architectures, and cloud AI platforms while maintaining solid software engineering fundamentals. Fluency with Python, GitHub-based development workflows, CI/CD practices, and MLOps/AIOps subject areas will enable them to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
Equally important is a data-driven outlook. Candidates should be motivated by outcomes, using benchmarks, adoption metrics, and operational insights to evaluate success and continuously improve solutions. The ability to balance experimentation and innovation with operational excellence, security, maintainability, and business impact will be a key differentiator in this role.
Salary range
$165,000.00 - $260,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $205,000.00- $307,000.00/ annually
