Trust & Safety Specialist — Content Moderation

About the Role

ModSquad is seeking a Trust & Safety Specialist — Brand Representative supporting a leading creative technology company's content moderation and abuse operations at their office in San Francisco or San Jose. As a ModSquad employee, you will work directly within the client's Trust & Safety operations team, serving as a front-line operator for content review, abuse report handling, escalation management, and quality and training support.

This is not a generalist support role. The core of this work is high-volume, policy-driven content moderation embedded inside one of the world's leading creative technology companies, covering a wide range of violation types including harmful and illegal content, account abuse, and policy enforcement across creative tools and platforms. This position must be performed in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Candidates must be authorized and able to work from that location. The first two weeks are an onboarding period requiring four days per week in office, with flexibility to split between the San Francisco and San Jose locations. After onboarding, the schedule is three days per week in office — Tuesdays are fixed; other days are flexible. Desk space is available at both the San Francisco and San Jose offices.

What You'll Do

• Review, analyze, and act on sensitive, violative, and illegal content in accordance with the client's content safety policies and guidelines, ensuring accurate and timely enforcement decisions.
• Review, analyze, and action abuse reports and handle proactive content moderation workflows across the client's platforms and tools.
• Escalate urgent or high-priority requests to the Trust & Safety Policy and Ops team and leadership, with clear documentation and appropriate urgency.
• Conduct quality control reviews of moderation decisions, including calibration sessions and accuracy audits, to ensure consistency with policy and identify areas for coaching.
• Develop and deliver training programs and onboarding materials for new and existing team members.
• Develop efficient processes, documentation, and metrics to support operational consistency and performance visibility.
• Identify trends in content, queue data, and operational patterns and surface insights to inform process improvements and tooling enhancements.
• Communicate effectively with a diverse audience including cross-functional partners, vendor teams, and leadership.

What We're Looking For

Required

• Prior experience working with high volumes of content moderation or abuse review, managing matters end-to-end, preferably in the tech, legal, or trust and safety industry.
• Experience and demonstrated ability to review disturbing, violative, and illegal content objectively, quickly, and accurately in a professional capacity.
• Strong analytical judgment for nuanced, gray-area content decisions where policy application is not immediately obvious.
• Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to maintain documentation standards under volume and time pressure.
• Excellent judgment and demonstrated understanding of when to escalate tough calls to management and legal.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to professionalism and team collaboration.
• Full-time availability (40 hrs/week), based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with three days per week in office after an initial two-week onboarding period. Desk space is available at both the San Francisco and San Jose offices.
• Willingness to work weekend shifts on a rotating basis.

Preferred

• Prior Trust & Safety experience at a major technology platform, ideally covering content moderation, policy enforcement, or abuse operations.
• Familiarity with quality assurance workflows including calibration sessions, accuracy audits, and reviewer coaching.
• Experience developing or delivering training and onboarding materials for moderation or operations teams.
• Familiarity with the client's product suite and the creative professional use cases that distinguish legitimate from harmful content.
• Familiarity with ticketing and case management systems such as Zendesk or ServiceNow.
• Experience reviewing AI-generated content for policy violations.

Compensation

The expected base pay range for this position is $70,304 to $100,000 per year, which represents the Company's good-faith estimate of the range it reasonably expects to pay for this position upon hire, based on market conditions at the time of posting. The final offer will depend on relevant factors such as primary work location, experience, skills, qualifications, scope of responsibilities, and internal equity.
