The Atlas team's mission is to empower institutions to settle digital assets safely and at scale, improving digital asset liquidity while reducing counterparty risk. This is a nascent business line at Anchorage Digital with huge potential.

You will work with the Engineering Manager, Product Manager, and the engineering team to plan, build, release, and maintain high-quality front-end experiences for the Atlas business. You will be a key driver of front-end architecture, technical direction, and engineering best practices.

At Anchorage Digital, we believe the product is never "done"—we can always do better! When you join Anchorage, we expect you to drive our products forward by developing novel solutions for our institutional clients. As a team, we are constantly striving to innovate in order to build the future of cryptocurrency and the digital asset ecosystem.

We think about growth and career development differently at Anchorage Digital. We define performance as acquiring, possessing, and practicing a relevant set of skills and competencies—and the ability to apply them effectively and consistently. We have created the Factors of Growth & Impact to help Anchorage Digital "Villagers" better measure impact and the rich and rewarding learning that happens while exploring, developing, and mastering the capabilities and contributions within and outside of the Front-End Software Engineering role. You will be coached, mentored, and guided to grow your capabilities in 4 major areas:
    Technical Skills:
  1. Architect and own front-end systems, establishing patterns and component libraries that scale across the Atlas platform
  2. Review code across the front-end engineering discipline while actively participating in product development and driving technical standards
  3. Foster an efficient, deterministic testing culture with an emphasis on minimizing tech debt
  4. Find elegant solutions to complex UI/UX problems, balancing user experience with technical constraints
  5. Implement high-quality, performant code that is clear, concise, and well-tested
  6. Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot, mitigate, and learn from production incidents
  7. Complexity and Impact of Work:
  8. Lead or significantly contribute to medium-to-large front-end projects that cross team boundaries, coordinating with other engineers
  9. Break down large UI initiatives into smaller tasks and accurately estimate the scope of multi-person projects
  10. Ship code that directly impacts institutional clients' ability to settle digital assets safely at scale
  11. Find the right balance between progress (shipping quickly) and perfection (measuring twice)
  12. Drive technical decisions that shape the Atlas front-end architecture
  13. Organizational Knowledge:
  14. Work across Atlas and adjacent product lines, understanding how front-end systems integrate with backend services and the broader Anchorage platform
  15. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Backend engineers
  16. Ensure knowledge is shared amongst the team and no one is positioned as a single point of failure
  17. Help scale the team through hiring, mentoring, and establishing best practices
  18. Communication and Influence:
  19. Mentor and guide other engineers on the team within front-end specialization, helping them understand strategic goals and how their work contributes
  20. Work closely with Backend engineers to propose and review GraphQL API changes
  21. Collaborate with Product managers and designers to brainstorm and align on new features
  22. Influence architecture and product roadmap—have a seat at the table
  23. Use compelling arguments to convey insights and recommendations on technical direction
  24. You may be a fit for this role if you have:
  25. You have 8+ years of professional experience building web applications and UIs, with deep expertise in React.js and TypeScript
  26. You have architected front-end systems from scratch and supported them over meaningful periods of time
  27. You have experience mentoring other engineers and driving technical standards across a team or organization
  28. You genuinely care about code quality, test infrastructure, and developer experience
  29. You have experience performing on-call support for production systems
  30. You prioritize end-user experience and business value over "cool tech"
  31. You have developed "computer science fundamentals"—i.e., concurrency, algorithms, and data structures (formal CS degree NOT required)
  32. You self-describe as some combination of the following: creative, humble, ambitious, detail-oriented, hardworking, trustworthy, eager to learn, methodical, action-oriented, and tenacious
  33. Although not a requirement, bonus points if:
  34. You have production experience with web security (e.g., authentication, authorization, identity, API keys)
  35. You have experience with system design for front-end applications at scale
  36. You've built a Chrome extension or other browser-based tooling
  37. You have professional experience with backend technologies (Go, C++, or similar)
  38. You read blockchain protocol white papers for fun and stay up to date with the proliferation of cryptoasset innovations
  39. You have a background in the finance or cryptocurrency industries
  40. You were emotionally moved by the soundtrack to Hamilton, which chronicles the founding of a new financial system. :)
  41. Apply for this position
