    Role Summary/Purpose:

    The VP, Product Manager – Internal Consumer & Partner Data Solutions (Individual Contributor)  is a key role at Synchrony’s Analytics - Chief Data Office (CDO) Team, responsible for building and scaling enterprise data solutions that enable critical workflows and meet governance, risk, and regulatory requirements.

    This role owns the end-to-end product lifecycle - product roadmap, prioritization, delivery, and adoption, partnering with business, data office, data engineering, and risk/compliance.

    Using Agile practices, the VP translates the strategic  roadmap into measurable outcomes, defines and tracks product metrics and SLAs, and drives continuous improvement.

    The role also leads stakeholder communications via status updates, office hours, and QBRs.
     

    The ideal candidate combines strong data product management, stakeholder leadership, and business analytics with clear communication to drive the data solution roadmap and influence cross-functional leaders.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    Manage end-to-end partner data solution lifecycle and roadmap, including

    Strategy and Roadmap:

    • Support VP, Consumer & Partner Data Solutions Leader’s  product vision and strategy by defining target users/use cases, and business outcomes

    • Build and maintain business cases (impact/value, investment, risk dependencies)

    • Translate data product / solutions strategy into a prioritized roadmap (epics/features/releases)

    Discovery + Prioritization:

    • Own analytical and data requirements discovery for new/enhanced data solution needs / use cases; manage  use case intake process, and gather/synthesize business and data requirements and needs

    • Translate business and data requirements into user stories  with clearly defined acceptance criteria in alignment with strategic roadmap

    • Create and manage Product Backlog in partnership with Engineering and Data Office, and functional stakeholders; prioritize and manage tradeoffs

    • Plan delivery and product releases via Agile/PI planning with Product Owner; manage capacity and resources, and  proactively identify, escalate, and manage risks and dependencies.

    Solution design and delivery:

    • Partner with engineering/architecture to review: data models, data contracts,  semantic layers, APIs, designs and standards, schema/versioning, and change management

    • Partner with Data engineering, Dev product owner, data product analysts to ensure data solutions delivered meet business growing needs and expectations while keeping up with data governance and regulatory requirements

    • Manage cross-team dependencies (upstream providers/downstream consumers)

    • Own release/change management communications (release notes, deprecation notices, versioning, and customer impact assessments).

    • Own sunsetting/retirement of legacy data/metrics, including migration plans and consumer impact management, as applicable

    Enterprise adoption and stakeholder engagement:

    • Lead stakeholder communications (roadmap reviews, product updates QBRs, newsletters)

    • Establish a structured feedback loop (VOC, surveys, office hours, knowledge sharing sessions) to drive continuous improvement and measurable value realization

    • Ensure product documentation, data catalogs, self-servicing tools and other governance artifacts are complete, current, discoverable and effective

    • Build new business cases for data solution, conduct benefits sizing and tracking, in partnership with users / consumers

    • Monitor and continuously improve data product/ solution and KPI’s in collaboration with Business, Engineering and Data Quality teams

    Operational stability and compliance:

    • Own end-to-end data product support and issue management, including triage, root-cause analysis, defect intake, prioritization, remediation workflows, and control evidence documentation.

    • Partner with upstream data owners, downstream consumers to manage changes, upstream SLAs, and schema drift.

    • Own requirements and outcomes for data observability and quality monitoring, and self-servicing tools in partnership with Engineering, and Chief Data Office Teams

    • Ensure data product controls meet evolving governance, compliance, risk and regulatory requirements 

    • Build and monitor KPIs (usage, adoption, quality, freshness/latency, impact cost)

    Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • 8+ years relevant experience (or 10+ in lieu of degree), including 5+ years in data/analytics product management, data management, or enterprise data delivery in large enterprises/consulting roles, including ownership of roadmaps, backlogs and releases

    • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end data/analytics product, or information lifecycle: discovery, requirements, roadmap/backlog, delivery, launch, and ongoing operations.

    • Strong ability to translate business needs into data epics/stories with clear acceptance criteria, SLAs/SLOs, and measurable outcomes.

    • Demonstrated success building business cases and tracking benefits realization/ROI for enterprise data initiatives.

    • Hands-on analytical proficiency (e.g., SQL) and ability to partner with engineering on data modeling, semantic layers, APIs/data contracts, and observability requirements

    • Experience driving enterprise adoption through stakeholder enablement, communications, self-service tools, documentation, and data literacy/training.

    • Hands-on capability in data reliability/operations including: observability (monitoring, lineage, anomaly detection), data quality, production support, triage, RCA, remediation workflows, release management, and control evidence.

    • Working knowledge of modern data architecture and platforms (cloud, lake/warehouse, ETL/ELT), data modeling (semantic layers/metrics), APIs/data services, and schema evolution/versioning patterns.

    • Strong cross-functional leadership in matrixed environments; demonstrated ability to communicate and influence across VP’s and functional leaders without direct authority

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Payments/credit card domain experience (analytics, credit, marketing, collections, risk) with strong understanding of regulated financial data.

    • Proven ability to drive execution across multiple concurrent data product initiatives, aligning teams on shared solutions and outcomes.

    • Highly collaborative partner to analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and business SMEs across multiple lines of business.

    • Proficient in Agile planning and delivery, including backlog management and tools such as Jira and Confluence.

    • Hands-on familiarity with cloud data ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP) and modern platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery).

    • Comfortable operating in enterprise support/change workflows using ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow) for incidents, problems, and change management.

    • Experience with data catalog/metadata tools (e.g., Collibra, etc.) to drive discoverability and governance.

    • Strong grounding in data governance and risk: domain operating models, stewardship, CDEs, lineage, privacy/security, and regulatory expectations, and or third party data management

    • Knowledge of data management disciplines: data quality, metadata/catalog, MDM/reference data, and compliance (e.g., CPRA/GDPR).

    Work Timings: 2 PM to 11 PM IST

    This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
