We are looking for a Director of Facilities to lead the strategy, operations, and optimization of Pattern’s warehouse facilities and physical infrastructure. This role will oversee the ongoing operations and maintenance of our warehouse locations, while leading facility expansions, renovations, build-outs, and new warehouse launches to support Pattern’s continued growth. It combines day-to-day facilities and maintenance leadership with hands-on ownership of vendor performance, safety/compliance, and space readiness.
This is a full-time remote position that requires approximately 30% travel to Pattern’s U.S. warehouse locations.
What is a day in the life of a Director of Facilities?
  1. Oversee daily facilities operations including maintenance, security, janitorial, and vendor management in partnership with the lease management team

  2. Develop and execute a facilities and reliability strategy aligned with company growth, including space planning and workplace design

  3. Manage budgets, capital expenditures, and cost optimization initiatives across facilities

  4. Lead office expansions, renovations, and build-outs in partnership with internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring spaces are truly operationally ready — not just construction-complete

  5. Establish preventive maintenance discipline, escalation routines, and vendor follow-up so facility risks are surfaced early and driven to closure

  6. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards (OSHA, NFPA, electrical/life-safety, permitting)

  7. Partner cross-functionally with IT, People Ops, Safety, Real Estate/Construction, and leadership to enhance the employee workplace experience

  8. What will I need to thrive in this role?
  9. Significant leadership experience in facilities management, maintenance/reliability, workplace operations, or a related field

  10. Proven experience managing small and large office or site environments, preferably in a high-growth or tech company

  11. Proven experience leading the launch of new office spaces or facilities, including site selection support, design, construction coordination, and operational readiness

  12. Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and vendor management

  13. Demonstrated ability to evaluate, redesign, and optimize existing facilities to meet evolving business needs, improve employee experience, and drive cost and space efficiency

  14. Experience managing leases, budgets, contracts, and capital projects

  15. Ability to identify technical, safety, and compliance risk, know when to bring in outside experts, and drive issues to closure

  16. High EQ and excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders

  17. Strong problem-solving mindset with a proactive, data-driven approach to decision making

  18. Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support site readiness and vendor coordination

  19. What does high performance look like?
  20. Facilities operations run smoothly with minimal disruptions and high employee satisfaction

  21. Projects (build-outs, expansions, upgrades) are delivered on time and within budget, with clean handoff and no late surprises

  22. Strong vendor relationships and preventive maintenance discipline that drive quality service and cost efficiency

  23. Continuous improvement in workplace experience, safety, and operational efficiency

  24. Proactive identification and resolution of facility risks or inefficiencies, with the right issues escalated to leadership and the rest resolved independently

  25. What will make me stand out during the interview process?
  26. Experience in Amazon RME, fulfillment, sort center, AMZL, Sub Same Day, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, robotics, parcel, ecommerce, or other high-throughput operating environments

  27. Experience with conveyors, sorters, MHE, dock equipment, building systems, fire/life-safety coordination, electrical safety, controls, WCS/WES interfaces, or automated material handling environments

  28. Experience developing PM programs, scorecards, inspection routines, vendor standards, critical-spares processes, and maintenance operating mechanisms

  29. Experience with greenfield launches, brownfield retrofits, tenant improvements, startup readiness, or network expansion

  30. Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, electrical safety, insurance review, permitting, facility inspections, and industrial safety practices

  31. Military, engineering, technical operations, or field leadership background
