Insurance Discovery Specialist

As our Insurance Discovery Specialist, you will support R1’s Insurance Discovery product and a growing client base by verifying and loading platform-discovered patient insurance coverage into R1 and client host systems—improving billing accuracy, reducing denials, and increasing revenue recovery. You will manage a coverage work queue, research eligibility, coordinate with payers and provider teams, update patient records, and follow client SOPs/documentation while maintaining HIPAA compliance. You’ll also support metrics/reporting, recommend process and product improvements, and serve as a liaison between clients and internal coverage loading teams by leading training, updating documentation, and translating client/Product/Operations requests into clear, consistent coverage loading workflows.
To thrive in this role, your background must include:
Revenue cycle experience (eligibility & denials preferred)
Powerful attention to detail and documentation skills
Proficiency with Excel is required; willingness to learn basic SQL (training is provided)
Collaborative, flexible mindset; be comfortable with change and occasional extended hours
