IT Solutions Architect
Purpose:
This position is responsible for defining and designing architecture that drives the City towards targeted outcomes by leveraging existing and innovative technology to enable the City’s future-state business capabilities and business models. This position aligns IT and enterprise strategy, maintains business capability models to reflect new or improved processes or IT systems, creates common standards to ensure integrity of the models, and influences enterprise strategy.

Position Overview:
The City of Austin’s Enterprise Data Analytics team is seeking a highly qualified IT Solutions Architect to oversee the City’s Open Data Program and Enterprise Strategy Platform. This position is responsible for the planning, administration, governance, and continual improvement of enterprise data platforms and business intelligence applications. The role supports all City departments and plays a key part in promoting government transparency, strategic data use, and organizational effectiveness. Manage the City of Austin Open Data Program and the Enterprise Strategy Platform, including associated applications, technologies, and operational processes. Architect, design, implement, and maintain enterprise‑level solutions built on Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Strategy platform. Develop and execute strategic plans for enterprise data platforms, data governance, analytics modernization, and system scalability. Establish and maintain data quality standards, governance policies, and platform best practices to support data transparency and usability. Coordinate with all City departments to support data sharing, automation solutions, and integration of business intelligence and open data applications. Support and guide new enterprise implementations, including data modeling, data reporting, integrations, and application development. Participate in enterprise analytics events, internal training sessions, and community engagement activities to promote open data and business intelligence initiatives. Provide leadership and communication across the organization on data governance, program updates, policies, and technical standards. Identify and implement innovative solutions to advance automation, data transparency, and the City’s open data objectives.

Pay Range:
Annual Salary; $85,120 - $109,400 (Exempt)
Days and Hours: Standard Business hours. Must reside in the state of Texas. This position is primarily remote, however, you may be required to be onsite as operational needs determine. On call is required. Must reside in the state of Texas.
Critical Employee: This position has been designated as a Critical Employee. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and support activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.
