    Under the general direction of the Vice President, Diversion Control and Security, Senior Director Diversion Control will be primarily responsible for initiating, directing and supervising analytical functions within Cencora’s Controlled Substance Monitoring Program (CSMP) including the initiation and development of controlled substance monitoring tools, dashboards, data management and reporting, pharmacy customer data and dispensing reports, IT department liaison, related customer facing platforms, and vendor relationships.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversees and directs investigations as mandated by CSMP including but not limited to: ongoing customer due diligence; suspicious order monitoring investigations; and investigations pertaining to the potential diversion of controlled substances and listed chemicals.
    • Supervises and directs staff of subordinate directors, investigators and analysts in CSMP functions as assigned.
    • Makes final decisions- for all customer reviews, up to and including the termination of sales of controlled substances and listed chemicals to any customer serviced by Cencora, completely independent of the sales organization or any other functional groups outside of CSMP, excluding the legal department.
    • Liaison for state/federal regulatory/enforcement authorities, including but not limited to the Drug Enforcement Administration, state boards of pharmacy and state and local police departments.
    • Supervises the development and implementation of training related to monitoring and analytics for internal and external audiences as needed in support of CSMP, to include customer pharmacies, and pharmacists.
    • Ensures compliance with all other aspects of the CSMP: daily suspicious order reporting to DEA; monthly data review to detect trends and risk management; and customer visits as needed. 
    • Manages various vendor relationships with external CSMP contactors/consultants utilized by CSMP.
    • In coordination with Cencora legal department, assists and responds to inquiries and investigations of potential diversion of pharmaceutical controlled substances by DEA and other law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
    • Oversees and directs the activities of CSMP team members, establishing team priorities and goals with the overall objective of minimizing diversion and regulatory risk to the organization.
    • Assists with preparation of CSMP monthly and quarterly summaries for the Diversion Control Advisory Committee, the Compliance Committee and other functional groups as needed.
    • Collaborates on other diversion related initiatives as assigned by the Chief Diversion Control Officer, Vice Presidents and/or Legal Counsel.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.

    Experience and Education:

    Requires broad training in related fields through completion of a four-year Bachelor's Degree program or equivalent combination of education and experience. Normally requires eight (8) years related and progressively responsible experience, including program and personnel management; development and management of data analytics and applications related to pharmaceuticals, diversion and health care.

    Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements:

    • Strong leadership skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Excellent logical, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills to evaluate problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions; ability to resolve associated issues effectively and efficiently.  Ability to make comprehensive, fact based recommendations regarding program enhancements, resource management and program effectiveness to CSMP leadership
    • Excellent organizational, motivational and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, data analytics and reporting software, cloud-based systems, applications, services and data storage, AI related analytical tools and applications. 
    • Requires approximately 10% travel.

    Salary Range*

    $124,000 - 190,850

    *This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
