    Job Description:

    The University of Northern Iowa’s School of Public Affairs and Service seeks applications for a temporary Assistant Adjunct Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice to teach the online three-credit course CRIM 3400 Police & Society, for the fall semester beginning August 24, 2026. Responsibilities include teaching this online, asynchronous course, which studies the history, role, and function of police as a public service focused on reducing crime, protecting society, and achieving justice. Topics include community relationships, analysis of factors influencing police effectiveness, and pressing issues challenging crime control in a democratic society.

    This position is eligible to be performed remotely within the state of Iowa. Employees who elect remote work must comply with the requirements of our remote work policy and agreement.  

    Required Qualifications:

    Master's degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or related field; and experience teaching at the university level required.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Previous teaching of a similar course in person or online and/or practical experiences that demonstrate ability to create a dynamic and engaging online learning experience preferred.  Candidates are encouraged to describe in their cover letter how their previous online teaching experience and/or practical experience will lead to this kind of learning environment.
