Quantitative User Researcher - Music Mission

    New York, NY
    Full-Time
    Mid (3-6 yrs)

    Posted on December 8, 2025

The Music Mission empowers creators to grow, engage, and monetize their fan bases on Spotify. We build promotional and expression tools for artists and their teams, powered by Spotify’s deep understanding of listener behaviors.

We're looking for a Quantitative Researcher to join our team. As a member of the Product Insights organization, you'll join a multidisciplinary group of user researchers, data scientists, and analytics engineers dedicated to deepening Spotify's understanding of creators and listeners. Positioned at the intersection of B2B and B2C research, we collaborate with product, design, data science, business, and marketing partners to create tools and experiences to support artists and their organizations in connecting with listeners worldwide.

As a Quantitative User Researcher, you will be the bridge between "the why" and "the how many." You will design and own large-scale surveys and longitudinal measurement systems, use your statistical expertise to validate and scale insights, and triangulate behavioral on-platform data with attitudinal signals to explain complex behavioral patterns. You understand that great quantitative research doesn't happen in a vacuum; qualitative investigation is what sharpens your hypotheses, grounds your survey design, and helps you make sense of what the data surfaces. You'll work across Spotify's creator and listener experiences to provide actionable, user-centered evidence that informs product and design decisions.

    What You'll Do
  1. Independently design and execute quantitative and qualitative research studies, including large-scale surveys, behavioral, atttitudinal, and trend analyses, and usability testing and benchmarking.
  2. Develop and maintain longitudinal measurement systems to monitor the user experience and product health over time (e.g., sentiment trackers, satisfaction benchmarks, perception scales).
  3. Translate your qualitative findings into representative, scalable quantitative hypotheses, and design methods and sampling strategies to validate them at scale.
  4. Triangulate behavioral data with attitudinal or survey data to identify behavioral patterns and explain underlying motivations and perceptions.
  5. Independently lead qualitative research projects including IDIs, diary studies, and usability testing when the research question requires depth over scale.
  6. Act as a consultant to stakeholders, advising on when a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed approach is most appropriate.
  7. Communicate insights clearly and compellingly through dashboards, visualizations, and narratives that lead to actionable recommendations.
  8. Collaborate closely with product, design, engineering, and data science to ensure insights influence product roadmap decisions and experimentation design.
  9. Who You Are
  10. You have a degree in Statistics, Behavioral Science, Psychology, Sociology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  11. You have 5+ years of experience conducting quantitative studies in a product development or agency environment.
  12. You are proficient in the end-to-end survey process: from rigorous design (logic, branching, quotas, bias mitigation) to advanced analysis (e.g., regression, ANOVA, hypothesis testing) to uncover impactful insights.
  13. You have experience with advanced survey methodologies (e.g., MaxDiff, TURF) and longitudinal measurement frameworks.
  14. You are comfortable using SQL and statistical tools (Python or R) to analyze, visualize, and manipulate large-scale datasets.
  15. You are proficient in qualitative methodologies (e.g., interview, diary studies) to define the right constructs, generate survey hypotheses, and investigate what the numbers alone can't explain.
  16. You have an outcome-centric mindset and a strong product sense, allowing you to bring structure and clarity to areas of uncertainty.
  17. You possess strong storytelling abilities and can turn complex, multi-source data into clear, persuasive insights.
  18. You are passionate about music and excited by the opportunity to shape how people experience Spotify.
  19. Where You'll Be
  20. This role is based in New York City.
  21. We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
