    About the Role
    The primary responsibility of a Business Wire Newsroom Editor is to accurately and efficiently prepare and transmit news releases over Business Wire’s circuits. A Newsroom Editor will also work as a team member performing any and all functions necessary for the successful operation of Newsroom Operations as determined by departmental management.
    Available shift:
    Mon-Fri 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM ET (candidate must be available to work overnight)
    What You Will Do
  1. Standard duties for all Newsroom Editors may include any or all of the following (other duties may be assigned by departmental management):
  2. Format, edit and proofread press releases on a computer quickly and accurately
  3. Code each release based on a client’s request for distribution, suggest additional or alternative circuits that may be beneficial to the client and talk to them about conflicting distribution instructions
  4. Contact clients regarding any problems that could lead to errors (grammar or punctuation mistakes, typos, missing contact information, etc.)
  5. Assess the authenticity of press release orders and escalate potentially problematic content appropriately
  6. Display good judgment in helping to resolve issues
  7. Monitor incoming orders and ensure that all are accounted for and handled in a timely fashion
  8. Monitor online to ensure successful transmission of content
  9. Assist other Newsroom teams with overflow of orders as necessary
  10. Perform opening/closing or other shift-change duties as necessary
  11. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Business Wire products, services, procedures and policies
  12. Assist with incoming phone calls, including fielding client questions regarding distribution options, and answering other general questions
  13. Help guide clients through the process of submitting orders to Business Wire, including how to use the Business Wire website
  14. Provide membership information and set up new accounts when the situation is approved and appropriate
  15. Collaborate with sales and other departments as necessary
  16. Communicate all technical issues to the Service Desk or Web Support teams in a timely and detailed fashion
  17. Authorize credit card payments when necessary
  18. Run and submit the daily distribution report to the billing department by set deadline
  19. Maintain a log of daily activity
  20. What You Will Need
  21. Bachelor’s degree
  22. Excellent communication and customer service skills
  23. Ability to work effectively with a variety of people in a team environment
  24. Ability to multitask, prioritize workflow, and follow projects through to completion under tight deadlines
  25. Strong attention to detail
  26. Ability to exercise good judgment
  27. Basic technical skills and computer literacy, including proficiency in standard business applications (i.e., MS Word and Excel; Web, etc.)
  28. Must demonstrate reliability through good attendance and punctuality
  29. Courteous and professional phone manner
  30. Professional demeanor
  31. Must be flexible with schedule, as needed

  34. The rate range for this position is $20/hour to $24/hour. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
