At Strada, we believe a company’s success starts with its people. The Bid Manager coordinates the actors, events and processes needed for excellence in our opportunity capture where written sales (proposals) are required (both Word-based documents and Slide-based visual decks). They have an excellent understanding of the business development lifecycle and the behaviors, actions and environments that are needed to drive success.
Responsibilities will include:
Management of the end-to-end bid process in Strada (from opportunity identification to contract closure)
Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from key stakeholders, typically engaging with sales, solutions, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and project management / delivery.
Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process.
Input into (and presentation of) the commercial and technical solutions (alongside Solution Architects and Commercial Managers) to ensure that they are comprehensive, winnable, competitive and sustainable for Strada business.
Ownership of a pipeline of future bid opportunities within a sales or solution area to ensure that Strada sales is fully supported.
Completion of the Win:Loss process to recycle information from the post- to the pre-bid processes
Support Strada qualification, competitive analyses and best practice initiatives as needed.
This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to stand for Bid Management and what is efficient and right for Strada. It requires strong stakeholder management, organizational and commercial skills and conflict resolution capability.
Key Responsibilities
Management of the bid management process
Liaison with sales, solutions and sales analytics to maintain a pipeline of current and upcoming opportunities at stage 1-2 with proposal and bid requirements. Analysis of the opportunity landscape per geography, solution line or similar to uncover potential opportunities.
To ensure that adequate positioning and presales work is carried out on opportunities requiring bid support, identifying key customer needs and positioning win themes within the submitted content.
To ensure individual bid opportunities adhere to Strada’s qualification standards, playbook and opportunity compliance milestones
To ensure the Strada solutions is clearly mapped and communicated against the customer needs, all the time ensuring that Strada (and external or partner) compliance standards are maintained.
To present opportunities to senior leadership or partners for approval or review as needed within Strada’s opportunity pursuit environment.
To identify and collate company-wide and external content pertinent to winning opportunities, and to extend this to sales and solutions where possible.
To act as a proposal manager to own the written document on smaller or more simple opportunities, or where a proposal manager is not available to support.
To ensure win:loss debriefs are carried out on closed opportunities to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Mentoring, leadership and management
To mentor junior team members (or oversee mentoring) to ensure that support is available as needed (for Senior team members only)
To support the culture of professional development within the team, aligned with Global Bid Team and market best practice standards
To coach the opportunity team on behaviors and actions through the pre- and post-proposal periods, including presales meetings, presentations, negotiations and others.
Budget, reporting and improvement
To develop individual bid budgets alongside the Manager – Bids & Opportunities to identify any cost of capture and to create the equivalent ROI.
To support regular reporting across Strada sales, solution and business leadership on Opportunity Effectiveness.
To develop and deliver training, both inside the Global Bid Management team and out to external stakeholders
To develop a culture of knowledge recycling, embedding Win:Loss, competitive and landscape information into both the pre- and post-bid processes.
To support and work within a process library describing core bid and opportunity process documentation.
To take part in the wider Sales Operations and Strada business improvement catalogue as needed.
Stakeholder management
To manage a diverse network of bid contributors including Sales Executives and Solution Architects, as well as legal, finance, IT, Operations and Services colleagues and more.
To escalate potential risks and emerging crises within Bid Operations as required to protect Strada and our Partners.
To represent Strada externally at Customer and Partner meetings as needed.
To actively engage with a network of Strada (and external) business stakeholders as needed to monitor the health and potential of Strada bids.
A minimum of two (2) years in a Bid or Proposal Management position with evidence of success. For Junior roles, this can be waived with suitable experience.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Accreditation to APMP Practitioner (Capture) or equivalent is highly desirable. Progression through a Bids & Proposals Apprenticeship will be viewed favorably.
Proven leadership skills including delegation, conflict management, stakeholder engagement and managing a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
Proven experience within live opportunity environments (possibly including experience as a quota-carrying salesperson or similar).
Systems experience in an Opportunity Management system (such as Responsive, DigiWorkz, Highspot or similar), CRM (Salesforce preferred) and reporting (PowerBI or Salesforce preferred)
Excellent MS Office capability
Exceptional presentation skills
Knowledge of international public bidding pipelines
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface at all levels of Strada and external partners / customers as needed

Clarification on terms
Strada Bid & Proposal management defines the following terms:
Knowledge: Information needed to complete a request or task - including boilerplate content, templates, processes and stakeholder maps.
Bid: The entire lead to contracting phase of work winning, including opportunity identification and evaluation through to pursuit and contracting. Bidding includes the behaviours exhibited, the processes followed and the solutions that we recommend.
Proposal: The written sales document received by the customer. This can include a PPT deck, an email quote or a full RFP/ITT.
Opportunity: The bid phase plus the early life of the new customer delivery once contracting is complete. This typically includes the first year of mobilization where we evaluate our profitability and customer success expectations against our estimates in the bid phase.
