We are looking for an experienced professional to join our Master Data team as a Lead. This role is designed to bridge the gap between day-to-day master data execution and broader project management needs. As our company grows, so does the demand for reliable, consistent, and accurate data across our systems. We’re looking for someone with an analytical mindset to help us develop stronger controls, remediate issues, and lead projects with multiple stakeholders.
Master Data partners with every department in the company: Retail Operations, Retail Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Manufacturing Operations, IT, Accounting, and Finance. This creates a high volume of competing priorities. The Lead Associate will work closely with the Director, Supply Chain Process, Systems, and Data to help manage that complexity by breaking large projects into clear, executable steps, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Responsibilities
Own ongoing data entry in specified systems as demanded by the business
Enforce our data governance guidelines and suggest new processes and controls to improve our consistency
Develop an in-depth understanding of our systems and operate as an SME. This person will represent master data on cross-functional call and will also be responsible for onboarding and training new team members
Break down complex, multi-step projects into clear tasks that other associates can easily execute
Track project progress and communicate status updates to the Director and relevant stakeholders
Scope new projects as they come in, identifying what Master Data owns, what Master Data contributes to, and what tasks are owned by other teams
Support the creation of new processes that impact Master Data, even when Master Data is not the ultimate owner of that process
Represent the Director and the Master Data team in meetings when appropriate
Own the team’s short-term and long-term project tracking. This includes building tools that allow the team to measure progress as work is completed
Partner with Retail, Operations, Accounting, Finance, and IT to maintain master data including creation, modification, cleansing, and enrichment
Own quarterly audits of data integrity and accuracy
Support data integration initiatives in partnership with the M&A team
Partner with internal and external audit teams to document procedures, respond to follow-up questions, and assist with ongoing SOX documentation
Beyond the Technical Skills
Knows the difference between signal and noise. A lot of information comes into Master Data from a lot of directions. Once fully trained, this person will quickly assess what's relevant, what needs action, what needs to be redirected, and what can be set aside, then validated with the Director.
Communicates with clarity and calm. When they need help, they come prepared. They can describe the problem clearly, share what they've already tried, and ask specific questions.
Bias for Action. This person doesn't let perfect get in the way of progress. They have a natural bias toward action and are confident to assess the situation, make a reasonable call, and move. When something needs to get across the finish line, they find a way to make it happen. If they have questions or roadblocks, they quickly meet with their manager or other colleagues to chart a path forward.
Stays grounded when things get busy. This role will involve large amounts of data, competing requests, and shifting priorities. This person works methodically through complexity rather than getting stuck in it.
Takes ownership. They don't wait to be told every next step. They think through issues independently, and make a plan. When they hit a roadblock, they proactively seek help and come prepared with options.
Earns trust across departments. Because this role interfaces with so many teams, this person needs to be someone others want to work with. They are reliable, professional, and easily partner across teams.
