    The Director of Field Technical Architecture is a senior leadership role responsible for leading a team of Field Technical Directors (FTDs) focused on ensuring best-in-class design and integration of Cohesity technology for large enterprise customers and highly complex, demanding use cases.
    The mission of this role is to ensure that customer technical requirements are thoroughly explored, clearly understood, and accurately captured—resulting in architectures that not only meet customer needs but are successfully implemented and drive long-term customer success and repeat business.
    This leader sets the technical vision, standards, and execution excellence for the FTD organization and serves as a key interface between customers, field teams, Product Management, and Engineering.

    HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME HERE:
    Leadership of Field Technical Director Organization
    • Lead, manage, and develop a team of Field Technical Directors across the region/global territory
    • Define the technical strategy, best practices, and architectural standards for the FTD function
    • Build a high-performing organization focused on technical excellence, customer success, and business impact
    • Coach and mentor FTDs on architecture, executive engagement, and solution design at scale
    • Drive hiring, talent development, performance management, and succession planning within the team
    Technical Architecture & Governance
    • Own architectural governance for all major enterprise customer engagements
    • Ensure proposed solutions are scalable, resilient, and aligned with Cohesity’s product capabilities and strategic roadmap
    • Act as the final escalation point for complex architectural and design decisions
    • Establish consistent frameworks for discovery, design, and documentation across all engagements
    • Ensure high-quality design deliverables for migration, integration, and operational cutover planning
    Customer & Executive Engagement
    • Engage directly with senior customer executives and technical stakeholders on strategic accounts
    • Present Cohesity technology in deep technical sessions and executive briefings
    • Lead discovery workshops to identify business objectives, technical requirements, and operational constraints
    • Ensure customer needs are accurately translated into validated technical architectures and implementation-ready designs
    Pre-Sales Technical Leadership & Business Impact
    • Partner closely with Sales leadership to drive technical strategy in key enterprise deals
    • Oversee technical contributions to RFPs, RFIs, proposals, demos, and Proof of Concepts (POCs)
    • Improve win rates and deal velocity through strong architectural alignment and technical credibility
    • Ensure consistency and excellence in all customer-facing technical deliverables
    Cross-Functional & Product Leadership
    • Serve as a key liaison between Field teams, Product Management, and Engineering
    • Advocate for customer requirements and influence product roadmap direction
    • Drive resolution of complex technical issues and escalations across accounts
    • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve field execution, tooling, and solution delivery processes
    Operational Excellence & Strategy
    • Define KPIs and success metrics for the FTD organization (e.g., deal success, architecture quality, customer satisfaction)
    • Drive continuous improvement in field architecture methodologies and scalability
    • Champion adoption of automation and AI tools to improve productivity and decision-making
    • Ensure alignment between pre-sales architecture and post-sales implementation outcomes


    WE'D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
     
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • 15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, data management, or enterprise architecture
    • Proven experience leading technical teams in customer-facing environments
    • Deep expertise in:
    • Data protection and backup technologies
    • Storage, virtualization, and Linux environments
    • Enterprise-scale infrastructure design
    • Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity planning experience
    • Database protection and recovery expertise
    • Distributed systems architecture experience
    • Public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Networking fundamentals (Layer 2, firewalls)
    • Scripting and automation experience
    • Experience with architecture documentation tools (e.g., Visio or equivalent)
    Leadership Competencies
    • Proven ability to lead and scale high-performing technical teams
    • Strong executive presence and communication skills
    • Ability to influence across sales, engineering, and product organizations
    • Strong organizational, prioritization, and execution discipline
    • Ability to operate in complex, fast-paced enterprise environments
    • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to improve productivity and decision-making

     
    • Up to 60% travel across regions and globally
